About Split Video
Cut a video into multiple separate segments: by timestamps, by equal-duration chunks, or by scene changes.
How split video works
Where Trim keeps one section, Split produces several. You either mark cut points (every spot the file should break) or specify a number of equal parts. Each segment becomes its own downloadable file, ready to share or process individually.
NextConvert uses the same keyframe-aware engine as Trim, so the segments are byte-identical to the source within each kept range. Splitting a 60-minute lecture into six 10-minute chapters takes seconds and loses zero quality.
A common variation is scene-detection split: we analyse the video and place cuts at significant visual changes (cut transitions, fade-outs). Useful when you have a compilation reel and want each clip back as a separate file.

Tips for the best result
- For a long, multi-topic recording, scene detection often nails the natural breakpoints without manual labour.
- Equal-parts split is the right choice when you don’t care about content boundaries. For example, breaking a 2-hour stream into 10-minute uploadable chunks.
- Combine with Speed if you want each segment also sped up for review.
Privacy and security
Files are uploaded to our processing servers over an encrypted connection and removed automatically after the job completes (usually within a few hours). We never share your media or train models on it. You can also delete a job manually at any time from your dashboard.
