How remove audio works
Sometimes you don’t want the audio: there was background noise, a copyright song was playing, the microphone caught something private, or you’re planning to add a different track later. Removing audio means demuxing the file and re-wrapping just the video stream into a new container.
NextConvert does this losslessly. We don’t re-encode the picture, just throw away the audio stream. The output is byte-identical to the source video-wise, and finishes in seconds even for large files.

Tips for the best result
- Want music instead of silence? Use Add Audio. It does both operations in one pass.
- If only part of the audio is problematic, use Trim to remove that section instead of muting the whole file.
- Removing audio doesn’t change file size dramatically. Audio is usually 5 to 10% of total bytes in a typical recording.
Privacy and security
Files are uploaded to our processing servers over an encrypted connection and removed automatically after the job completes (usually within a few hours). We never share your media or train models on it. You can also delete a job manually at any time from your dashboard.
